![]() I simply archive everything as it is too hard to predict whether you will need it again and email services offer you tons of free space anyway. Myself, I haven't deleted an email in years. Gmail and iCloud both have an Archive folder (All Mail in Gmail) where the email goes if you use the Archive function in the Mail app rather than delete. Otherwise, when you delete a message it is simply deleted. Then you can Move or Archive the message and it goes in there. Usually you can create them in the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad, though some services may make you create them using their web email interface. Most services let you create email folders or mailboxes with names like "Archive" or "Save" or something like that. It sounds like you want to save some emails. So when you delete an email, it deletes from the server and the change is reflected when you view it in either place. Find Mail folder and right-click on the folder. Enter /Library and press Enter button to open Library folder. Click Go > Go to Folder or use the shortcut Shift + Command + G to bring out the Go to Folder window. You are just viewing it on your iPhone or iPad. Go to the mail folder and see how much space that Mail is using on your Mac. ![]() ![]() So your email is not really "on" you iPhone or iPad, it is on the server. But most services today are IMAP or the equivalent. I even looked at setting up Automator to do it and there is no Delete Mail option. The problem is Apple (in an overly protective manner) doesn’t allow you to automate this. I’d rather delete email that is in my Inbox that’s older than one year. Whatever you select will be viewable from your additional device for that period of time - however - it will be archived on your computer after 30 days. The option was to delete emails or archive them. phoneor tablet - you will be able to select one day, one week or one month from the drop down. Using "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" will make sure your messages are always downloaded to your Mac, and prevent your mailbox quota from being exceeded. ![]()
